The key to any success starts with appropriate education. If you want to be a doctor, you go to medical school. If you want to be a lawyer, you go to law school. The one thing you will realize is that these type of education are specialized. It is specific to a profession. If you are a doctor, you will know medicine but may not know much about finance, accounting, or law. Therefore, you are prone to make bad choices when it comes to finance and investments.
The good news is that anyone can get an education in just about any subject of interest. You can get formal education through a traditional school or you can study and educate yourself. As you may know, some of the brightest people in this country are self educated and you are limited only by your desire to learn.
Since 2008, we have seen many financial disasters from large companies to banks and all the way down to individuals. Companies that had been around for over a century perished. Unfortunately, most did not learn from this and will likely repeat it. Unless you made a strategic large capital gain in 2008, if you are still doing today what you did several years ago, then, I fear you have yet to learn the lessons of 2008 as well. As an analogy, in medicine, I take part in continuing medical education on a yearly basis to update and improve the art and science of medicine. How I practice medicine today is an improvement from my practice in 2008. It is a continual learning and growing process that never stops.
Financial education should be a part of everyone's basic education. It will allow you to make better financial decisions and grow your earnings. I know you've made sacrifices and worked extremely hard to earn your wages, so you should learn how to keep it and grow it. It pains me to see bad financial decisions being made daily and application of the "hope" strategy. As a result, I will be direct and speak my mind based on my opinion, studies, and my personal experiences and those of my teachers. I have invested thousands in financial education and what I say will not be traditional or mainstream. I don't plan on being popular but plan to help you prosper.
I hope you will have an open mind, listen, and learn. At the least, learn to think for yourself. You must be able to change and adapt to the current environment or you may find yourself without a seat when the music stops. We all remember when movies went from VHS tapes, to DVDs, internet downloads, and then live streaming. Companies went under due to their lack of ability to evaluate the market, adjust, and plan accordingly. New companies appeared to capitalize and profit from this change. In fact, I have a subscription service to a great live stream movie company and I bet most of you do as well.
Remember, it is not what you make that counts but what you keep that does. Learn & keep what you have earned.
